Forward Deployed Analyst

Location: Remote or NYC

Compensation: $70k - $90k

Orchard Analytics works with companies to help them make better decisions with their data. We ingest and model their data, build reporting, and ask and answer complex questions.

The Role

As a Forward Deployed Analyst, you'll play a key role in ensuring customers are able to make quick and consistently directionally correct decisions. You'll onboard new customers, build out their data models and dashboards, and ensure they're getting real value from their data.

This is a technical, hands-on role that is also highly customer-facing. You’ll be in Slack channels and on calls with customers — answering questions, troubleshooting metrics, and occasionally tracking down the Google Sheet or definition needed to unblock progress.

What You'll Do

  • Onboard new customers — plan and execute their implementations including accessing data sources, building initial models, and standing up dashboards

  • Build understanding of customers’ businesses and create clean, efficient SQL tables in a modeling layer to account for those complexities

  • Ship dashboards and reports that customers use and trust

  • Respond quickly to customer questions and requests in Slack — troubleshoot issues, answer “why does this number look wrong?”, and unblock teams

  • Push for clarity when things are vague

  • Assist customers in configuring BI tools and AI data tools and figure out the best ways to build out metadata for self serve analytics.

Who This Is For

This role is a great fit if:

  • You have ~2+ years of experience in analytics, BI, data, or a technical customer-facing role

  • You’re strong in SQL — you can write and debug queries independently

  • You’re excited about AI and want to use it as an incredible lever on your time

  • You thrive in early-stage environments — our customers are primarily startups and operate with all speed and ups and downs of startups

  • You’re organized and persistent — the “herding cats” part of this job (collecting info, pinning down definitions) requires follow-through

  • You’re high energy and excited about interfacing with customers.

Who This Is NOT For

  • If you don't like client-facing work, this is the wrong role. You'll be on calls. You'll get requests that are vague or last-minute. You'll need to push back diplomatically and deliver anyway.

  • If you're optimizing for work-life balance above all else, we're not the right fit. The pace is real. We are expected to be responsive and sharp
